Originating in New Orleans, Tank and The Bangas [website | Amazon.com] have all the qualities that relates them to the city that birthed them but a flair that separates them as well. Their performances range from being "one of the most energetic shows you'll ever see" to "a gospel tent in Mississippi." Rummaging through their sound like a thrift-store hippie, you'll find the Bangas provoke a musical reference of rhythmic soul and spoken word among other genres such as Rock, Gospel, Funk, and Folk.

Combining the various musical techniques among the Bangas, coupled with the instilling play on lyrics from the lead vocalist, Tank and The Bangas have quilted a unique sound that singles them as one of the most distinctive groups to come out of New Orleans. The group has graced the cover of one of New Orleans' most recognized magazines, OffBeat, and recently won Band of the Year at the New Orleans Big Easy Awards. Most recently, the band won NPR's 2017 NPR Tiny Desk Contest.

"Out of over 6,000 entries—more submissions than we've ever received—Tank And The Bangas won, unanimously, this year's Tiny Desk Contest. I fully expected their victory performance here at NPR headquarters in D.C. to be celebratory. I didn't know we'd all end up in tears... This band combines R&B with hip-hop's poetry and rollercoaster storytelling, with a flair and alchemy that could only come from New Orleans." (Bob Boilen, NPR)

Live for Live Music has called Maggie Koerner "a force of grace to be reckoned with. [She] dazzles audiences with her ease on stage and a voice that naturally transfers from one genre to the next." Indeed, the Shreveport-born, New Orleans singer and songwriter has established herself on the American tour circuit with her incredible live performances, as lead vocalist with legendary New Orleans funk outfit Galactic, as well as her appearances with esteemed, festival favorite acts. Now stepping out in a more intimate direction—and with Fink (Amy Winehouse, John Legend) producing—her new material is where her voice is given room to slowly smolder, leaving behind a chilled but haunting trace.
