UPDATED COVID GUIDELINES
We are opening up our COVID restrictions as much as possible within the constraints imposed by the artists and venues.
@708 is currently requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test for admission. Additionally, masks must be worn at all times.
Thanks for your cooperation.
AMP Residencies provide artists an opportunity to perform several shows in New Mexico, visit schools, do workshops and get to know our beautiful state and people. These are great opportunities for the groups and for all of us!
Germán spent a few days with us in 2019, where he performed beautiful shows at GiG and the Outpost. New Mexico is the only community he is returning to on his 2022 tour. It's probably safe to say you've never seen a timple before. Germán expands the scope of this traditional mini-guitar from the Canary Islands in the same way that Jake Shimabukuro shakes up the similarly sized ukulele. Germán's residency will start by opening for Judy Collins at the Lensic!
Tickets cost $22 in advance, $27 day of show (including all service charges). They are also available by phone through Hold My Ticket at 505-886-1251.
Brilliant young star of the "timple," Germán López touches audiences with original instrumental music from the Canary Islands. López harnesses the grit of Spanish flamenco, the structure of West African rhythms, the flourishing spirit of jazz, and an innovative 21st century approach to performing "island music." His principal instrument is one of the grandfathers of the ukelele, and part of the same instrumental family that includes the cavaquinho, the cuatro and the charango. Germán López’s music has been praised for "entrancing" performances of "delicately rippling notes" (Huffington Post), notes that flow from musical traditions uniting Spain, Africa, and the New World.
