January 24thSolidarity With Ukraine: A Teach-In and Benefit Concert
Featuring Rahim AlHaj and Engine
Add to Cal
Join us for a teach-in and benefit concert to raise funds for Ukrainian refugees.
The evening will feature musical performances by Iraqi composer and oud virtuoso Rahim AlHaj and Engine—an Argentinean-French band that embraces Afro-Latin rhythms, blues, rock, cumbia, funk, and hip hop.
The event will include a direct (Zoom) communiqué with on-the-ground Ukrainian reporters and activists. Confirmed speakers include: Anastasiia Lapatina, reporter at the Kyiv Independent and Vitaliy Osmolovskyy, Ukrainian activist—and Jesuit priest—operating large-scale humanitarian efforts supporting Ukrainian refugees.
Roundtable discussion on coalitional solidarity will feature Samia Assed, Sri Louise, Cristyn Elder, Erik Ehn, Stephen Bishop, and Dominika Laster.
All donations will be directed to support the humanitarian efforts led by Vitaliy Osmolovskyy assisting Ukrainian refugees. Osmolovskyy interrupted his doctoral studies at the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University to travel to Poland to help Ukrainian refugees. Osmolovskyy was born in Ukraine. He spent seven years studying and practicing law in Poland before embarking on his doctoral studies in theology.

This is a pay-what-you-can event. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
