Albuquerque's award-winning Indie Folk Français duo, Bébé La La, featuring singer-songwriter, guitarist and violist Alicia Ultan and singer-songwriter and accordionist Maryse Lapierre, officially celebrate their 15-year anniversary with a special concert at the Outpost Performance Space! Joining them for this grand celebration concert will be their band members, Micky Patten on bass and guitar and Joe Chellman on drums.  Bébé La La is committed to making this a real party and are pulling out all the stops!

We will have a bevvy of wonderful guest musicians joining us, including Alicia'sss twin sis, Jacqueline Ultan (a much in demand cellist in Mpls!); Frank Leto of Pandemonium and many other great ABQ groups, on steel pan); Alex Murzyn (saxophone - Alex rocked it with us at Paradiso!); our dear friend, fellow singer-songwriter, Laura DiMauro (guitar); Alicia's longtime Jaded Heart partner and award winning singer-songwriter Roger Jameson (harmonica); longtime "Moveable Parts" house concert host Glen Salas (native flutes); AND Alicia's little sis, Deborah Ultan (vocal harmonies on a special song!).  Whew!

And if the musicians aren't enough, there's going to be special merch too.  A special new Bébé La La AnniversaTea created by the Bébés in collaboration with AMP Concerts and the NM Tea Co. (wait til to you see & taste!); 15-year anniversary mugs; CDs; posters; lyric books, etc!

Alicia and Maryse formed Bébé La La in 2010, finding a great compatibility between Maryse's French influences and Alicia's original folk inspired "art" songs, and over the years, the two have developed a varied and engaging repertoire that highlights their signature "stunning" harmonies, richly textured songs and thoughtful lyrics. Boasting a warm, inviting and joyful rapport with their audiences, Bébé La La has performed at many events and venues over the years, including the International Balloon Fiesta and Museum, the Albuquerque Folk Festival, Nob Hill Summerfest, AMP Concerts Casa Flamenca, library and Open Space series, the Placitas and Moveable Parts House Concert series, Albuquerque Sunport Serenades, and more. They earned three New Mexico Music Award nominations and two awards for their 2015 debut release, High Wire, which was described by music and art writer James Mahoney as: "Wild—Alternative—Magic!," and seven nominations and two awards for their 2022 sophomore CD, A Curious Series of Unexpected Events. Both albums were recorded at the award winning Wall of Sound studio in Albuquerque by John Wall. With an overarching theme of "time" and the unexpectedness of life threading the eclectic collection of songs together, poet T.A. Niles writes, "From where I sit, A Curious Series of Unexpected Events is an album for our times, of times past, and it seeks to will us into a more magical future." Come celebrate the Magic that is Bébé La La and their 15 years of performing, recording and sharing the joy!

The cello that Jacqueline Ultan will be playing is provided by Robertson and Sons Violin Shop.  We are always grateful for the regular support Robertson's provides us and the rest of the community.
