"A combination of gravity and grace… Her writing is poetry, something that most songwriters strive for but not so many actually achieve. The strength of her lyrics and music help set the work apart."
Buddy Magazine

Eliza Gilkyson is a twice Grammy-nominated (2006/2014) singer-songwriter and activist who is one of the most respected musicians in Folk, Roots and Americana circles. Her songs have been covered by Joan Baez, Bob Geldof, The Conspirare Choir, Tom Rush and Rosanne Cash and have appeared in films, PBS specials and on primetime TV. A member of the Austin Music Hall of Fame, and an inductee into the Austin Songwriter Hall of Fame, she has won countless Folk Alliance and Austin Music awards, including 2014's Songwriter of the Year and the "Song of the Year" Award at the Folk Alliance International Conference in 2021.

Her new album, Dark Ages, is an intimate, courageous portrayal of the current reality in the USA. As always, Eliza finds a musical pathway through the worst of times, focusing not only on the hard truths we face, but more importantly honoring all that we hold dear, all that is worth fighting for. "I think we collectively plunged into a dark place with these election results, and I am reminded of the historical 'Dark Ages' when culture and consciousness were supposedly in decline. Historians are recently more inclined to say that it was a time of collective regrouping from which new thought was born over time. It may be the same for us now. Let's hope we emerge from this current dark time with new ideas about how to repair our systems and go forward into the creation of a better world. We simply must pull ourselves together and stay sentient and useful so that we are prepared and capable of handling the present and imagining the future. I hope Dark Ages reflects my commitment to holding that vision and inspires others to do the same."

As is usually the case, Eliza will be accompanied by Don Richmond. Don has been a founding member of bands like Tumbleweed and Hired Hands, and currently performs with the Rifters, a New Mexico-based band playing Southwestern Americana. Tumbleweed released four albums in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Hired Hands released three in the 1990s, and the Rifters are currently working on their seventh. Additionally, Don has recorded seven solo CDs, two with his brothers Ed and Jim (The Richmond Brothers), and two with his friend and business partner David Clemmer (Richmond/Clemmer).

As owner of Howlin' Dog Recording and partner in Howlin' Dog Records, he has recorded and produced or co-produced hundreds of albums for local, regional, and national artists. Along the way, Don has become fluent in guitar (acoustic and electric), banjo, mandolin, fiddle, dobro, and pedal steel, as well as sometimes grabbing the trumpet, accordion, pennywhistle, hammered or mountain dulcimer, percussion, or keyboards for that particular color on a recording project.
