Proyecto Cumbion performed at this year's Dual Language Education of New Mexico annual conference. We discovered that Grammy-winning kids' performers 123 Andres were friends with the local band when they jumped on to play some songs with them. That was so much fun that when we learned that 123 Andres were coming to town for a Popejoy Schooltime Series performance, we figured we'd better reunite the two groups. This will be a fun dance party with limited seating.
Proyecto Cumbion was founded in 2021 with the goal of sharing the sounds of Cumbia Colombiana in New Mexico. Inspired by the great pioneers of Cumbia Colombiana like Andres Landero, Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto, Celso Piña and Yeison Landero, Proyecto Cumbion aims to fuse these styles to create a vibrant dancing atmosphere.
Paying homage to the original Cumbia genre, audiences will find themselves immersed in Afro-polyrhythmic and Indigenous Colombian beats driven by a mix of traditional and modern instruments. Our interactive shows will bring you to your feet and transport you to San Jacinto, Colombia, the land of Cumbia.

Andrés and Christina are the Latin Grammy-winning music duo 123 Andrés. Their catchy songs and lively concerts get the whole family dancing and learning, in Spanish and English.
